The Google of Blockchains meets the Amazon of Crypto

Shopping.io has integrated $GRT onto its platform.

Since the project’s inception in 2018, The Graph has been paramount to making the world’s open blockchain data easily accessible by anyone. . The Graph is a decentralized indexing and querying protocol. Anyone can create subgraphs, which are open-source APIs that collect, process and serve data from various blockchain applications — facilitating easy, fast information retrieval. This analysis and categorization aids developers in increasing the efficiency of their decentralized applications (Dapps) by quickly and reliably supplying them with the relevant blockchain data.

The Graph’s users are split into four categories: Indexers, Curators, Delegators and Consumers; each playing a key role in the functioning of its protocol, with Indexers operating nodes indexing subgraphs, Curators signaling on useful subgraphs and Delegators securing the network by delegating stake to Indexers. Consumers query subgraphs and utilize subgraph data in their dapps. Some current Consumers of The Graph include Uniswap, Synthetix Network, Decentraland, and Aragon. Additionally, subgraphs are open source, so anyone can contribute as a Subgraph Developer.

The Graph’s native utility token ($GRT) functions as a guarantee for the organization of the data stored within the network. Indexers, Curators and Delegators stake or signal $GRT, while Consumers use $GRT to pay query fees. $GRT also incentivizes the aforementioned service providers to continue running The Graph Network, with participants being rewarded for staking, signaling and serving queries.

The Graph’s collaboration with Shopping.io gives $GRT users another use for tokens earned by participating in The Graph Network. $GRT will now be available as a form of payment on Shopping.io’s platform through its payment processor, Shopping Pay.

Participants in The Graph Network will now be able to use their $GRT earnings to make purchases through some of the world’s biggest retailers, such as Amazon, eBay, Walmart and Home Depot, all while enjoying worldwide shipping and an additional 2% discount for the first seven days.

Shopping.io is currently in the process of releasing its Web extension and Shopping Pay (Its publicly available payment processor). Following these developments, $GRT will not only be available through the previously mentioned retailers but through any compatible retail website.
