Shopping.io has successfully launched the $SHOP token!

Shopping.io officially launched its new $SHOP token on September 9th, merging the communities and utilities of $SPI and $GSPI into one, undivided ecosystem.

$SHOP functions as Shopping.io’s native token, is built on the Ethereum blockchain, and serves as a utility token within the Shopping.io ecosystem. $SHOP provides numerous benefits which greatly encourage users to utilize the platform. These benefits include increased $SHOP back rewards, FREE international shipping and additional discounts with its use as a form of payment.

Shopping.io created $SHOP with the goal of merging its current native tokens (SPI & GSPI) utilities as well as encouraging the unification of both tokens holders into one strong ecosystem. $SHOP has been designed to reflect the success of the Shopping.io platform thanks to its burn and mint mechanism.

Prior to taking on the monumental feat of merging two tokens from two different blockchains, Shopping.io had a lot of preparations to undertake; these preparations were not only centered around the technical aspect of the merge, but to also inform $G/SPI’s holders about the upcoming occurrences. Shopping.io began this process by first asking $G/SPI holders their opinions on the merger via a community poll. Following the polls landslide win for those in favor of the merger with a 97% approval rate, Shopping.io how had the go ahead to move forward with its launch plans.

On May 5th, Shopping.io published its Token Migration instructional article containing instructions for how holders should store their tokens in order to be taken into account in the snapshot/airdrop. The article also detailed the planned company actions prior to the migration such as the delisting of $G/SPI from their listed exchanges and pulling their liquidity that would later be used to kickstart the trading of $SHOP.

In the time between the proposal of the token migration and the launch itself, Shopping.io took the time to ensure $SHOP’s smart contracts were expertly written and then audited by CERTIC. The Shopping.io community team was also hard at work, answering questions and informing the community of all company updates surrounding the progress of the $SHOP token. These updates took the form of live AMA’s, videos, social media posts and 24/7 moderation in Shopping.io’s community channels.

Shopping.io announced the launch date of the $SHOP token on August 5th alongside a special pre launch event. This event also marked the launch of the first ‘Buy Tokens’ feature on the platform, allowing users to purchase $SPI directly from Shopping.io. $SHOP’s pre launch event allowed users to stock up on $SPI prior to the launch with the incentive of receiving an additional 20% of their $SPI purchase in $SHOP. The ‘Buy Tokens feature will now facilitate the purchase of $SHOP on the platform for joining the membership programs.

September 9th had arrived and the stakes were high as the entire Shopping.io team had been working full force to bring its launch day plans to fruition. Shopping.io had also published an article a few days prior, detailing the AMA Marathon that was scheduled to take place throughout the day as well as the timeline for the snapshot and airdrop.

When Shopping.io created $SHOP, a goal had been set to create a token that could be obtained not only by means of an exchange but also through the use of the platform. This method of obtaining $SHOP is in turn designed to incentivize the growth of the Shopping.io community and to allow the token to more closely reflect the success of the platform. To further facilitate the adoption of $SHOP through the use of the platform, giving shoppers the opportunity to earn an additional 20% $SHOP Back on all orders.

The event began on September 10th, lasted for 48 hours and resulted in over 40,000 $SHOP being awarded to shoppers and over 100 new Shopping.io users joining the platform. Shopping.io’s $SHOP Back Event was fully funded by the company, with the collaboration of shared marketing efforts giving an additional exposure for the $SHOP launch event to an estimated 12 million followers on Twitter alone.
